Mom bakes bread at night. The kids in their beds can smell it at once. They jump out of bed and they run to the kitchen. And by the morning, there is nothing at all on the plate.

強勢の位置（大文字＝強く読む音節）

仕掛け

4つの文は、どれも強く読む音節がちょうど4つです。一方で、強い音節のあいだに入る弱い音節は、文を追うごとに増えていきます（全体の音節数は 5 → 10 → 12 → 14）。

stress-timed のリズムで読めていれば、強い音節を等間隔に打つので、4つの文はほぼ同じ長さの時間で言い終わるはずです。そのためには、弱い音節（the, in their, and they, there is など）を短く、弱く詰めて読む必要があります。手拍子やメトロノームに合わせて、強い音節で1拍ずつ打ちながら読むと、できているかどうかがわかりやすいです。
